A Sound Engineer is a broad term used for engineers that produce or help produce any type of audio such as tracks, live recordings, live performances.

The Sound Engineer uses tools like mixers, equalizers, compressors and other types of audio-signal processors to oa. shape, restore and balance sound to meet the creative and technical requirements of the work.

This is a very creatively focused role and is often also referred to as an audio engineer, recording engineer or producer (as it is part of creating a track as such).
