A publicist generates and manages publicity for a person or company, for example an artists or event promoter. The publicist pitches clients to journalists and influencers, arranges interviews, manages crises and tracks exposure in the media.

The publicist develops a media strategy in-line with the business strategy of the client and works together with the client’s manager or management to make sure the right media exposure is obtained.

You can work with a PR firm or with a single publicist. Most important is to check the experience of the publicist as it takes quite a bit of time (often years) to build up strong relationships in the industry, which are essential for executing on a media plan.
